This is a simple husband-and-wife business that operates between Christchurch and the West Coast on a daily basis. Essentially the shuttle runs, (in this case in the morning) from Greymouth to Christchurch return. Equally it might be possible for that schedule to be reversed and have this shuttle running from Christchurch to the West Coast return or some variation on that.
In reality, the husband is looking to retire and sell this business. Currently two drivers (husband being one) equally share driving responsibilities for seven days each per fortnight. That equates on average to approximately less than 40 hours per week. A new owner with youthful energy and enthusiasm might be prepared to work more than seven days per fortnight? In addition, the business employs two additional part-time drivers to carry out pre-booked charters and tours. The administration role in the business is shared by the wife who works part-time in the business and a third-party staff member who works part-time five days per week.
Almost all passengers are pre-booked so that the owners know in advance the number of passengers on any particular day and those passengers are all prepaid. The fact that this business has been operating for over 10 years is testimony to its year on year growth and financial success. Last year the business made a profit (E.B.P.I.T.D.) of approximately $90,000 AFTER paying staff wages of almost an equivalent amount! There is huge potential for the right buyer with the requisite energy and enthusiasm to come and take this business to a totally new level of profitability.
All you have to do, is to want that success and be prepared to step up and take it!
